Personality & Traits
General Overview | Sayori is an exuberant young woman who is often happy and full of energy. When she is happy, her joy can be infectious. She’ll take most hardships in stride, usually saying she’s “hard as nails”. When something does go too far, it can upset her greatly. Her rage has been described as scary, despite her small stature. When truly saddened, she might avoid social encounters for days at a time. Her manic episodes, sometimes indistinguishable from her happy times, have also sometimes been described as being scary. |
|
Strengths & Weaknesses | +A genius with most technology. She can take apart and put back together circuitry and engine parts with her eyes closed as quickly as a professional security officer does so with their weapon (this has been demonstrated). +Infectiously happy. +Very fast reader. -Sadness and anger hit her hard. -Has a harder time with computer programming. Usually requires help in that regard. -Easily influenced by conspiracy theories -Does not weightlift, and has to be convinced with great difficulty to engage in most physical activities. |

Ambitions | Sayori is a true believer in the party line, that the Terran Empire brings peace to the galaxy, and she wants to be part of that. She’s been listless since the Shattering and the fact that none of her assignments have been about bringing order to the unruly barbarians beyond the gate, but she hopes this assignment will be different. | |
Hobbies & Interests | Sayori loves to build models of all types. Her quarters contain model cars, seaships, aircraft, starships, and buildings, made from different materials. She loves to eat, but cannot cook very well. She practically devours books, and loves every genre. Any reading recommendation someone gives her, she will try. She also scours social media, even parts of it that are discouraged or even forbidden for Imperial citizens, and engages on conspiracy theories, especially those about the coup a century earlier and the Shattering. She doesn’t enjoy weightlifting exercise, but loves to run, swim, and other cardiovascular activities. At the gym, she runs on the treadmill with a book. |
Personal History | Sayori Summers was born on Earth in the city of Toronto in 2365. Her father, Jonathan, was a security officer in the Fleet and her mother, Reina, was a mechanic working in Spacedock. Her father was usually off on fleet duty, which fascinated the young girl. She was proud of her father and was always the first one to welcome him back. When he was away, she lived with her mom and her aunt, Mei. Sayori spent her youth immersed in books, models, and technical toys. She learned very early to take pleasure in tinkering for tinkering’s sake. Hardware became second nature to her, even if software and programming always posed a bigger challenge. In 2380, a man in an all black uniform told her, her mother, and her aunt that Jonathan Summers was killed in the line of duty. He could offer no additional information, except that Summers died in service of the Empire. Sayori was devastated, but she knew she wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. At age 17, she got early acceptance in the Academy. Her first taste of freedom from home, she dyed her hair bright purple and a short while later surgically altered her irises to match. She felt right in her skin this way. Unfortunately she also began feeling anxious away from home, and began falling into spells of depression and anger. Counselors kept an eye on it and still work with her when necessary. In 2385, Sayori Summers graduated and took a posting aboard ISS Cronus, a vessel keeping tabs on the Klingon border and occasionally making incursions into Klingon space. She made Lieutenant jg and Assistant Chief Engineer in January 2388. She was devastated later in 2388, when the Captain of the Cronus announced that Earth was lost. The ship was recalled to Sol and she saw the wreck of her homeworld, her mother and aunt among the billions dead. By the time the Fleet was working aimlessly, securing the Empire’s core without much regard for strategy or planning — at least to Sayori’s point of view. She fell hard into Imperial social media and began believing almost any conspiracy theory about the Shattering. She took assignments where she could and did her part to help (a strong empire being crucial to the future, even or maybe especially without Earth). In 2391 she was made Lieutenant and Chief Engineer aboard the ISS Pyotr Velikiy. In early 2395, she learned about the pending launch of ISS Vengeance and the plan to restore order to the fringes. She learned who the Captain was going to be and, in a manic fit, barged into her Spacedock office and telling her that she, Sayori Summers, would be her Chief Engineer. She was escorted out but not long later was given the assignment…. |
